FEB 5 at 6:30 p.m.Sean Connery “Beyond Bond” FREE Movie Party in the Christian Business Directory sitting room at 1617 S. FEB 5-7 and 12-14 – The Revenge of the Space Pandas or  Binky Rudich and the Two-Speed Clock at the Mid Michigan Family Theatre, 440 Frandor Ave. (west side of central parking lot), Lansing, Mich.  “Binky Rudich,” his friend “Viv,” and his almost human sheep “Bob,” tinker with a two-speed clock, regarding the idea that – as “Binky” says – "Time on Earth moves at the same speed all the time, but there is another speed, a slower speed, and if we could find it, everything would stand still on Earth and we would spin off."  And they do!  To Crestview, the Fourth World in the Goolagong System, ruled by “George Topax” and guarded by the “Great Space Pandas.”  The excitement really begins when the “Supreme Ruler” commands that “Bob” be brought to him, never again to leave Goolagong, and he steals the two-speed clock just to make sure.  Shows on Friday and Saturday nights at 7 p.m.; Sundays at 3 p.m.  Tickets are $6 for students and adults; $4 for pre-school age.  For more information call (517) 339-2145 or visit www.freewebs.com/midmichfamilytheatre online.

FEB 6 at 7 p.m. – MGMA Winter Concert at Valley Farms Baptist Church, 1141 E. MAR 14 starting at 11 a.m. – St. Baldrick’s Event at Claddagh Irish Pub, Eastwood Towne Center, Lansing, Mich.  St. Baldrick’s began as a casual conversation between friends and has exploded into the world’s biggest volunteer-driven fundraising program for childhood cancer!  At a St. Baldrick's event, something amazing happens.  People who normally shy away from the very thought of childhood cancer, find themselves compelled to support this cause after looking into the face of brave children who are smiling broadly as their friends and family members proudly display their newly shorn heads.  Volunteers and donors see it can be fun to support a serious cause.  Young cancer patients and survivors see how many people care.  “In case you're wondering, ‘St. Baldrick’ is a fictional character, a morphing of ‘St Patrick's’ (the day the event was born), and ‘bald.’  There is no real saint, but we do have a mascot, Lucky the Leprechaun!”  To get involved or to donate, call 888-899-BALD or visit www.stbaldricks.org  online.

APR 15 thru 18 – Gideon International – 73rd Annual Michigan State Convention at the Radisson Plaza Hotel/Kalamazoo Center, 100 W. Michigan Ave., Kalamazoo, Mich.  Theme for the event is based on Acts 2:42 “And they continued steadfastly…”  Faith Fund Goal is $100,000 for World Scriptures.  There will be activities for both Gideon and Auxiliary members as well as youth.  Registration from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, followed by a Music Concert and Social Time, and 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. on Friday.  Keynote speakers will be International Gideon Representative Malcolm “Mac” Arvin and International Auxiliary Cabinet Representative Pat Biers.  Event will wrap on Sunday with a Consecration Service for the Gideons and an Auxiliary Prayer Meeting for the ladies, both starting at 7:30 a.m.  For more information or a registration form, call (517) 372-2784.

APR 16 thru 17 – Michigan Christian Convention 2010 at Great Lakes Christian College, 6211 W. Willow Hwy., Lansing, Mich.  The purpose of this year’s convention is to help the local church both draw people to the gospel of Christ and His church as well as help them remain in the church.   To that end the convention will be offering a wide variety of main session speakers and workshops, all geared toward helping churches be more effective at outreach, evangelism, retention and building a magnetic ministry.  Featured speakers include Bob Russell, retired pastor of Southeast Christian Church at Louisville, Kentucky, which grew from a congregation of 120 to more than 18,000 during his leadership; Dr. Gary L. AUG 20-21 – Bless Fest will be held at the Adado Riverfront Park in downtown Lansing (off Grand Avenue between Michigan and Saginaw).  This event is designed to be a blessing to all people.  Concert admission is FREE!  Picnic food on Saturday is FREE!  The two stages will feature talented artists of all musical styles, ranging from gospel to rock, alternative to pop, country to church choirs, alternative rock to hip hop.  Various Christian non-profit info booths and services will be available.  Flow Fest for teens on Friday from 5:30 to 10 p.m., featuring several of Lansing's own music groups.  All concert goers will have a free chance to win door prizes!  This is a FREE high energy fun event!  Bless Fest for the entire family on Saturday from 12:30 to 9 p.m. featuring Christian praise and worship music as will as performers of many styles, including country music performers and alternative music.  Don't miss the talented Gospel acts.  We will even finish the night with some Christian hip hop for the youth and young at heart.  For more information call (517) 333-8628 go to www.mediamessengers.org online.
